New AppSense Office: Thank You IT Department and Oh What A View :)

January 26, 2011

Just a quick note to say thank you to all of the AppSense IT Staff who helped make our recent Manhattan office move a smooth and seamless process.

IT are often the unsung heroes within an organization, as for the most part they sit silently ensuring systems and processes run smoothly and any changes or upgrades are hidden from the user – in fact, we often only think of or contact the IT department when we as a user want something specific.. so in this case, thank you guys – you did a great job in moving all of our systems!

For those who were not aware, AppSense relocated our US Headquarters in Manhattan (as detailed in this previous blog ) - the new address is:

AppSense Inc
17 State Street, 19th Floor
Manhattan
New York
10004

The new office is much bigger and has some great facilities, including this, the view from the office window everyday - we now get to watch the sun set over Liberty Island from the southern most building in the Manhattan Financial District!

Thanks again guys.. and thank you to AppSense for the lovely new office :)

Cheers

AppSense Office Move: New Office In Downtown Manhattan

January 13, 2011

Following on from my last post re: a massively successful 2010 for AppSense, specifically looking at the increase in headcount (now around the 290 – 300 figure… and growing!) – AppSense are taking on new regional offices at a fast rate, but in addition, we are moving our US Head Quarters to accommodate the growth.

We will be moving from out Manhattan NY office which is currently situated overlooking Bryant Park, just next to Times Square, to a new office downtown in the Manhattan Financial District and Battery Park area.

The office will be overlooking Battery Park and Liberty Island, from the southern most building on the Manhattan island :)

From January 18th 2011, the new address will be:

AppSense Inc.
17 State Street, 19th Floor
New York
New York 10004

Here are a few shots of the nice new ‘Shiny’ office:

In preparation for our move, our phone lines will be temporarily disconnected from Friday January 14th 2011 from 12:00 p.m. EST for the remainder of the day. The phone line will remain the same once the phones are up and running.

If you need to get in touch with AppSense during this time, please contact your territory representative directly or call +1 646-241-5201 for assistance and we will do our best to field your call.

We appreciate your patience and cooperation during the transition to our new office. If you have any questions or concerns please e-mail Alexandra.white@appsense.com. Thank you

To all the guys doing the big office move, good luck – hope it all runs smoothly… and i look forward to coming over to inspect, once the weather gets a little warmer over there ;)

Cheers

AppSense – 2010 record growth and a new CEO to drive even more in 2011

January 12, 2011

Like 2009, and 2008 and the many years before it, 2010 was another great year for AppSense; resulting in another record growth in revenue, headcount, market share and profit.  AppSense finished 2010 with a 60% increase in revenue and 43% increase in headcount on 2009.

2010 saw user virtualization go from strength to strength, with analysts, vendors and customers all recognizing the need for enterprise management of the user component of the desktop and AppSense continued market leadership with the sale of 1.5million user licenses and multiple $million deals in the 12 month period alone.  With recommendations from the likes of Citrix, Microsoft and VMware, and being part of offerings by system integrators such as CSC, Dell, IBM, HP and Fujitsu, 2011 looks set to be even bigger.

Driving the continued growth in 2011 is the newly appointed CEO of AppSense, Darron Antill.  Darron was instrumental in our success in 2010 as COO, and as CEO in 2011, we expect more great things to be happening in the User Virtualization Market.

An official press release on the appointment of Darron Antill and 2010 success can be found on the AppSense news pages here.

Thanks to all our friends, partners, customers and employees who made 2010 a great year!  look forward to working with you all even more in 2011.

Cheers

Virtualization Review: Why Myths Should Be Left To The Gods

January 5, 2011

Simon Rust, VP Technology, AppSense, has written a very interesting article as part of his series on Virtualization Review looking at some of the myths surrounding Desktop Virtualization and how in reality, when VDI is designed, implemented and managed correctly, these are in fact just myths and should not stop us from adopting desktop virtualization technologies.

In his article, Simon dispels the following 4 myths:

Myth 1: VDI is storage-heavy and therefore cost-heavy.

Myth 2: VDI is too hard.

Myth 3: Virtualization and the cloud are one and the same.

Myth 4: VDI is merely an extension of Server Based Computing (SBC).

You can read the article over on Virtualization Review here.

Hope you enjoy, and am keen to hear your thoughts.

Cheers
