Citrix are hosting a webinar showing why they awarded AppSense as the Citrix Ready Solution of the Year by demonstrating how AppSense User Virtualization adds significant value to Citrix XenDesktop and FlexCast technology.
“Citrix recommends the use of AppSense for advanced user personalization and desktop configuration requirements in enterprise environments. AppSense enables standard, componentized non-persistent virtual desktops to be personalized across a range of desktop and application delivery technologies and platforms.” (quote taken from the Citrix Ready case study: AppSense – Leading User Virtualization Solution is Citrix Ready)
What will attendees learn/gain/benefit?
Through FlexCast technology, Citrix XenDesktop delivers corporate desktops and applications to all user types in the organisation. AppSense extends this by providing a fully personalised and configured desktop experience for all user types, which means that all user related information can be applied to any desktop, regardless of which Citrix FlexCast technology is used to deliver the desktop, or operating system being delivered. When considering the move to a new virtual Citrix XenDesktop environment, AppSense User Virtualization is proven to help simplify and reduce the time and cost of any Desktop Transformation project.
Time and Date:
The webinar is scheduled for 1500hrs – 1600hrs (BST) on Monday 16th May
You can learn more about the webinar and register your place on CitrixChannelTraining here
Look forward to seeing you there!

In addition to his resident blog on Virtualization Review – Virtualizing the User, Simon Rust, VP of Technology, AppSense (Twitter @SimonARust ) recently provided a guest contribution to the Financial Technologies Forum LLC – The Bull Run: Where FinTech Talks. In this article – So Much Desktop Virtualization, So Little Time – Simon examines the potential size of the VDI Market and based on his 10 year experience within AppSense working with the worlds largest Financial Institutions, looks at some of the main challenges they are facing in their move to VDI.
Simon also details how leading finance houses are overcoming such challenges with the inclusion of User Virtualization technologies as part of their migration to a virtual desktop estate.

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) selects AppSense (Citrix Ready Solution of the Year) to provide a seamless & personal user experience across their physical desktop and new Citrix virtual desktop environment.
CDC have over 10,000 unique visitors accessing their Citrix infrastructure from multiple device and site locations on a monthly basis and found that personalization was unable to effectively roam between desktops using only Roaming Profiles. Further more desktops must be dynamically configured with different security rules, access permissions and lockdown when the user access their desktop from different locations or devices.
As part of any large-scale deployment of a User Virtualization solution the CDC performed due diligence and evaluated other technologies on the market, however found;
“AppSense is the market leader in the user virtualization space so it was an easy decision for us. We evaluated other products but AppSense was really the only solution out there that could scale and do what we needed. We knew AppSense was the right approach to deliver the best experience for the user and the best way for our IT department to manage the system.” – Lee Eilers, Remote Access Services Team Lead – CDC.
CDC also decided on AppSense as their strategic solution for the universal support of managing the user across locally installed applications, Citrix delivered applications, and Microsoft App-V applications.
Personally i think this is a great case study as it covers:
• The requirement for (AppSense) User Virtualization (UV) in a large virtual desktop environment
• As per many of our other Enterprise customers, the number of UV seats is actually bigger than desktop virtualization seats as it also spans Physical Desktops
• Policy is also of huge importance and only AppSense provides the granular controls required.
You can read the PDF case study by clicking on the image below – other customers case studies and videos can be found on both AppSense.com and Citrix.com

Thanks to all at CDC and AppSense for great work on this leading deployment of Citrix, Microsoft and AppSense technologies.
Cheers

Just a quick note to say thank you to all of the AppSense IT Staff who helped make our recent Manhattan office move a smooth and seamless process.
IT are often the unsung heroes within an organization, as for the most part they sit silently ensuring systems and processes run smoothly and any changes or upgrades are hidden from the user – in fact, we often only think of or contact the IT department when we as a user want something specific.. so in this case, thank you guys – you did a great job in moving all of our systems!
For those who were not aware, AppSense relocated our US Headquarters in Manhattan (as detailed in this previous blog ) – the new address is:
AppSense Inc
17 State Street, 19th Floor
Manhattan
New York
10004
The new office is much bigger and has some great facilities, including this, the view from the office window everyday – we now get to watch the sun set over Liberty Island from the southern most building in the Manhattan Financial District!

Thanks again guys.. and thank you to AppSense for the lovely new office :)
Cheers

Like 2009, and 2008 and the many years before it, 2010 was another great year for AppSense; resulting in another record growth in revenue, headcount, market share and profit. AppSense finished 2010 with a 60% increase in revenue and 43% increase in headcount on 2009.
2010 saw user virtualization go from strength to strength, with analysts, vendors and customers all recognizing the need for enterprise management of the user component of the desktop and AppSense continued market leadership with the sale of 1.5million user licenses and multiple $million deals in the 12 month period alone. With recommendations from the likes of Citrix, Microsoft and VMware, and being part of offerings by system integrators such as CSC, Dell, IBM, HP and Fujitsu, 2011 looks set to be even bigger.
Driving the continued growth in 2011 is the newly appointed CEO of AppSense, Darron Antill. Darron was instrumental in our success in 2010 as COO, and as CEO in 2011, we expect more great things to be happening in the User Virtualization Market.
An official press release on the appointment of Darron Antill and 2010 success can be found on the AppSense news pages here.
Thanks to all our friends, partners, customers and employees who made 2010 a great year! look forward to working with you all even more in 2011.
Cheers

I often visit www.CitrixTV.com to keep up to date with all the Citrix solutions and partner news, only when visited today, I was greeted by my ugly mug in the most recent videos section!
During Citrix Synergy Berlin CitrixTV recorded an interview hosted by my good friend Fabian Kienle and myself.. (for those of you who don’t know Fabian, he is Mr Citrix through and through, and may recall my blog posts about the parody music videos he has done in the past – Citrix Music Video: https://appsense.wordpress.com/2009/08/05/citrix-vmware-dns-pop-music-videos/ – although the music video has been moved from the link I have in the blog but can be found on YouTube here – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZFbRum484HQ )
Anyway, back to the interview on CitrixTV – Fabian is keen to ask and let the viewers know about key Citrix + AppSense joint partnerships, activities, shared customers and being Citrix Ready Partner of the Year
You can watch the video over on CitrixTV here – http://www.citrix.com/tv/#videos/3196
Many thanks to my friends at Citrix and the CitrixTV crew..
See you all soon…

Microsoft’s Tech•Ed Europe 2010 in Berlin was a great event, on thing I took away from the event was that the corporate desktop estate looks set to become more and more heterogeneous in nature. With new delivery technologies, more accessing devices and diverse user roles, the move to a component-based desktop model is fast approaching. An essential component in this new desktop model is the user environment…
…By virtualizing the user and managing their environment independent of the desktop, you can reduce desktop management costs, accelerate desktop migration and ensure the best experience for your users – across multiple devices and delivery mechanisms. This is User Virtualization and is now accepted as an essential part of the desktop strategy in most enterprises.
Register now to attend a live webinar and learn more about this game-changing technology.
Learn how User Virtualization:
• Reduces time and cost to migrate users to Windows 7
• Maximizes your use of App-V virtualization technology
• Provides cross-platform personalization of Windows desktops
• Enables personal settings to follow you across devices
